Skin Care
A realistic skincare routine for humid weather
Four steps you will actually keep, and the two products most people can drop.

Most routines fail because they are too long. Four steps done every day beat nine steps done twice a week.
1. Cleanse, properly, at night
Sunscreen and makeup need more than a splash of water. A gentle gel or cream cleanser, worked in for a full minute, is the single highest-value step in any routine.
2. One active, not four
Pick the thing your skin actually needs — niacinamide for oiliness and uneven tone, salicylic acid for congestion, retinol for texture. Using all three at once mostly produces irritation.
3. Moisturise even if you are oily
Oily skin in humidity is often dehydrated skin producing more oil to compensate. A light gel moisturiser usually calms it down within a fortnight.
4. Sunscreen, every day, indoors included
This is the one that changes how your skin looks in five years. SPF 30 minimum, reapplied if you are outside.
What you can drop
- Toner — a good cleanser makes it redundant.
- Daily physical scrubs — they damage the barrier. Chemical exfoliation once or twice a week is gentler and more effective.
Where a facial fits
A professional facial every four to six weeks does what home care cannot: proper extraction, stronger actives applied safely, and an honest read on what your skin is doing. It supplements a routine — it does not replace one.
Tell your therapist about anything active you are using. Coming in on retinol and not mentioning it is the most common reason a facial leaves skin irritated.
